UPDATED INFORMATION ABOUT NEW START DATE FOR VCE’S NEM PROGRAM
What’s Happening?
In a move to improve VCE’s NEM program and provide additional benefits to NEM customers, at its July 12, 2018 meeting, the VCE Board of Directors approved delaying the implementation of VCE’s Net Energy Metering (NEM) program. The new start date of VCE’s NEM program is expected to be January 1, 2019. Until then, existing NEM customers will remain with PG&E.
Why a Delay?
VCE is working to make sure our NEM program is cost competitive with PG&E’s NEM program. This takes time to make sure NEM customers benefit from enrolling in VCE.
What’s Next?
The NEM program delay will provide time for VCE to identify options and develop solutions with short- and long-term benefits for our NEM customers. In the meantime, existing NEM customers will remain with PG&E and will seamlessly move to VCE in 2019. VCE anticipates that a revised NEM program will be discussed and approved by the VCE Board of Directors at the Board’s September 13, 2018 meeting.
Notes from Community Meetings
VCE hosted two community workshops to obtain additional input from the solar community, including customers and contractors. Aproximately 90 community members attended each workshop.
