Hourly Flex Pricing for Residential

Residential Customers: Sign Up for Hourly Flex Pricing and Save

PG&E, which delivers the clean energy VCE purchases for our customers, has created a pilot program to help residential customers lower their utility bills. Through a special agreement we’ve signed, VCE residents are eligible to enroll in this pilot program, which runs from November 2024 through 2027.

How Hourly Flex Pricing Works

    • PG&E will let participants know the next day’s hourly electrical rates 24 hours in advance.
    • You’ll be able to set the timer on your EV chargers and smart devices so they run when rates are low.
    • Because this is a pilot program, you’ll continue to see the normal VCE rates on your monthly bills. However, PG&E will track all the times you’ve used power at these lower HFP rates. (You won’t be charged when Hourly Flex Pricing rates are higher than the standard rate.)
    • At the end of 12 months, you’ll receive a credit for any savings you’ve accumulated.

Reminder: VCE residential customers already pay 2.5% less for standard electric rates than PG&E customers!

Which Residential Customers are Eligible for the Program?

Residential customers must be on or switch to one of the following rate plans:

  • Electric Home (E-ELEC) rate plan
  • Home Charging (EV2-A)
VCE’s Net Energy Metering customers will be eligible for Hourly Flex Pricing in the near future, but cannot enroll at this time. We will update this page when enrollment opens up.

Other exclusions may apply. See the “Quick Q&A” on the main program page for more details.
